After several half-hearted attempts, I'm finally reading Vineland, and I gotta say that I'm really enjoying it. I was never able to get beyond the first two chapters before; I think that my eye-strain is actually the main reason why I managed to get into it. Which is to say, since I have to read a little bit more carefully, I've gotten sucked into the language, which if you're reading Pynchon is pretty much the key to getting his stuff.

One of my lawyers is on jury duty, and the other hasn't left his office all day. I've done nothing productive yet. But the way I look at it, it's free air conditioning and fast internet. Now, if I could just smoke pot here and play some heavy-duty computer games (instead of Snood and Diamond Mine), I'd be fucking set.
