full life

The #1 thing that any songwriter in a crippling lyrical writer's block should avoid is listening to Bob Dylan.

Of course, I'm currently in rehearsals for a Dylan birthday tribute that's happening next week, and so I'm trying to learn as many songs as I can, and it's driving me crazy. Trying to not be intimidated is probably the hardest thing in the world. Of course, I'm also getting inspired, and I want to just go and attempt some lyrics, but they're all crap. A similar thing happens if I listen to too much Elliott Smith - I end up writing Elliott Smith songs for the rest of the week.

Good weekend, though. Another great lazy Sunday.
