Very tired this morning, but that's nothing new. However, I'm in a very good mood, and here's why.

1. The gig went off without a hitch.

  • Larger turnout than I expected, and to give credit where credit is due, my brother totally came through and brought 10 of his fellow NYU-ers, who seemed really responsive.
  • The sound, as I had hoped, was great. The drum machine was pumping out beats with authority, and the guitar was loud and undistorted. I could hear my vocals. That never happens.
  • The sound was run not by the regular soundguy, but by the booker, who was exactly who I wanted to see the gig in the first place. He saw the turnout (which was impressive), and he saw my gimmick (which is an unusual gimmick), and I think he was impressed.
  • Impressed enough, anyway, so that after the show I spoke to him and booked my first gig, all by myself, without the aid of friends or go-betweens. That is a HUGE confidence booster for me. And get this - the next gig is on my birthday.
  • Made a nice bit of cash, which is of course the only reason why I do this in the first place. Which is to say, no, I'm kidding, but it's a nice added bonus to walk out of a club with some weekend spending money that you didn't have when you walked in.
  • Finally, I was able to tape the show. Now, the tape quality is kinda crappy - the vocals tend to distort a little bit, there are certain tones on my guitar that just blow out the low end of the speakers, and it's not a direct soundboard recording, which is what I had originally thought it would be, so there's a bit too much audience chatter - but it actually exists, and it's better than nothing. So hopefully this weekend I'll be able to upload the better takes and post 'em on the ol' website.

2. Part of my computer shipped this morning, so I'll be receiving it maybe as soon as Monday. To quote Jack Black: "FUCK YEAH!"

3. It's Friday, and I couldn't be happier. Friday means payday. Friday means that my girlfriend doesn't have rehearsal. Friday means that I can sleep in. Friday fucking rules.

4. Hey, the Yankees are up 2-0. Who'da thunk?

1. The Godfather DVD.
2. The Stanley Kubrick DVD collection.
3. The X-box.
4. To see "The Royal Tenenbaums".
5. My computer, and to have Pro Tools on it.
6. A record deal.

This weekend is shaping up to be incredibly vague. Tonight is a sushi date w/ the woman, followed by some sort of DVD watching; she's going to Virgin after work and getting something, possibly the Godfather DVD. Which would kick some unbelieveable ass.

And then, after that, I have no idea what's going on. There's a possibility that at least one part of my computer will arrive tomorrow, which would be sweet. Which would mean that I gotta do some serious room-rearranging.

There's definitely some Yankee-game-watching in store, which might involve copious amounts of alcohol.

Anyway. Have a good weekend, you crazy kids.
