"Hey Coney, why don' choo have a dance?"

Espn's Jayson Stark has a column about why there won't be a baseball strike, and his first reason why is:

"The Yankees have a new TV network. What are they going to show on it if there are no baseball games being played -- the Luis Sojo Yankee-ography?"

Now, I don't know about you, but I've been pretty addicted to the YES Network all season, and strike or no strike, a Luis Sojo Yankee-ography can't come soon enough.

Finished "The Alienist" on Tuesday - I thought the first 80% of it was just fantastic, but the final 20% was a huge let-down. Also spotted an enormous error, which didn't necessarily affect the outcome of the plot but certainly had me confused and confounded, until I just gave up worrying about it (and ultimately led me to conclude that it was just an oversight that nobody seemed to catch). I'm re-reading "House of Leaves", which is STILL creeping me out, even though I've already read it somewhat recently.

Other news, other news... I've discovered that my mom reads this journal from time to time. Hi, Mom! I've quit smoking pot and I'm gonna quit smoking cigarettes this weekend! And I say that not just for her benefit - I really am gonna quit smoking this weekend. I've also started eating somewhat healthier food and at some point in the near future I'm gonna get a physical and and make sure I'm not dying. I'd like to eventually expand this idea to actual physical exercise, but let's not get crazy.

I have some other news to report, but for various reasons that'll have to wait until tomorrow.

Finally, in related news, I'd like to wish a very happy birthday to the woman. Happy birthday, kayhoe!!!!

Oh, and because this has been stuck in my head for days:

Legend, legend
The third wheel legend
Always in the way

When I say "stuck", I mean STUCK. And while I love Mr. Show passionately, the same can't be said about my feelings for David Cross' singing voice.
