full life

(no subject)

1. Let it be known that being a huge videogame dork has its benefits, especially when you get to engage in public discourse with one of your heroes. Without getting into the incredibly nerdy story, all I'll say is that Tim Schafer (of Grim Fandango and, soon, Psychonauts fame) is the man.

2. I took last Friday off because I was feeling shitty, but it turns out I would have missed work anyway, because Kath spent Friday in the hospital. She's OK now - I'll let her tell the story if she ever comes back to LJ again - but it scared the shit out of me, when she called me to tell me she was going to the ER.

Not much else to report. This week I've got to finish recording some music for a Six Characters video piece; I'll also finally mix down some old (pre-Good Evening) loops, which I might end up putting online at some point.

Oh yeah, might as well mention this, too: Good Evening has, for the moment, decided to forgo the drummer search. I may have mentioned this already, but it's been so long since I wrote anything substantive here and it's worth mentioning again. We're going to finish recording the EP with my drum machine and then we'll start gigging - with the drum machine. This is actually a good decision and I'm glad we're sticking with it - we've got a really good creative feel between the 3 of us and now we can simply go forward without being distracted by having to re-learn the old stuff. Plus, we're actually taking the time to experiment with sounds and making sure that this move actually works, which is somewhat of a first. Anyway, this is good.
