full life

(no subject)

1. Before seeing Harry Potter 3, I decided to kill some time and wander around the Borders next to the theater. Bad idea. I ended up buying a TON of books. Witness:
  • Dark Tower 6: Song of Susannah, Stephen King (I'm a fiend for the DT books, and I had no idea it was out)

  • Oblivion, David Foster Wallace (Well, duh. DFW's my all-time fave.)

  • Heart is a Lonely Hunter, Carson McCullers (I've been meaning to get this for a long time; thanks to Oprah, it's now on sale!)

  • Naked

  • Me Talk Pretty One Day, David Sedaris (Rather than spending $25 on the brand new Sedaris, I figured I ought to at least own my own copies of his other stuff. Yes, I'm very, very compulsive.)

  • The Escapist, inspired by Michael Chabon's "Adventures of Kavalier & Klay". (Yes, this is a collection of Escapist comic books by a whole bunch of people who wanted to create comic books based off of the novel's creation. Yes, I'm fucking stoked for it.))

  • The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, Mark Haddon. (I'd heard of this book a long time ago and couldn't find it anywhere; last night, it was right there on the front shelf.)

  • and finally,

  • The Shadow of the Wind, Carlos Zafon. (Never heard of it, but the book jacket caught my eye. Which is funny, because that's sort of what the book is about. I decided to read this one first, and so far it's fucking incredible. Apparently, Zafonmania is sweeping over Europe. And I'm not making "Zafonmania" up, either - it's on the back cover of the book, twice.)
