full life

Last night, on our way to a rather successful songwriting session (more on that later), David and I were talking about the election and America and eventually we started wondering aloud what percentage of Americans are actually happy in their day jobs. 10%? 30%? 5%? I flipped through my mental rolodex and came up with maybe 2 or 3 people who had day jobs that they were truly happy with (not counting people going back to school, or actors/musicians in non-unpleasant job situations). Anyway, I'm curious now, and I have the ability to make polls in a public forum, so here we go:

How's your day job?

I'm doing what I want to be doing, and I love it.
I'm doing what I want to be doing, but it's not quite what I thought it'd be like.
I'm not really doing what I want to be doing, but the people are nice and it's not a terribly unpleasant experience.
I'm not doing what I want to be doing, and I have no idea how to do what I'd rather be doing.
I hate my job and everything about it.

My situation was not listed in this poll, so I'm elaborating below.

The poll creator ate one of my entries, which was supposed to be "I don't like what I'm doing, but I don't even know what it is that I'd rather be doing." You can add that if you like.
