full life

(no subject)

Feeling good this morning; feeling energized.  Looking forward to going home and getting back behind the boards; I've been listening to the song I recorded last night and I have a really good idea of how to fix it - swap out the acoustic for an electric, re-do the vocals while standing up, throw in some harmonies, maybe re-try the Rhodes without so much tremolo.  Most important is the electric guitar, though - that's what will give the song some balls, even without any distortion.  The acoustic is making the song soft and cuddly, and I'm trying to get away from that.

Plus, there's a bunch of other stuff I want to re-record, now that I know what I'm doing - I really want to finish the thing I was working on last week.  (Although it means I also have to finish the lyrics.)

... OK, I need to wake up now.

On Vox: 2/20 - 2 updates for the price of one

Pretty productive night, all told.

1.  Went back and fixed a bunch of things in "To Retreat", namely:

    • added electric guitar
    • redid main vocal
    • added backing vocal
    • actually did some mixing-type stuff (EQ, compression, level adjusting)
    • removed egg shaker
    • remembered to get rid of all the ambient noise
2.  Went back and did a bunch of things to "You Were A Ghost", which will mean nothing to you since you're hearing it for the first time, but just so I know what I did:
  • added electric guitar
  • never actually wrote a 2nd verse, so just cut/pasted from first verse (which sorta works, I guess)
  • minor mixing and adjustments
It still needs a great deal of work, and I may end up re-recording it entirely.

So there you have it.  And, now, the songs:

To retreat (new) You were a ghost
