Rumsfeld is a psychotic loon, of course, but it's not like losing France's support of a war action is anything crucial. In fact, if he'd said that France was simply performing a "pre-emptive surrender", I'd even give him some points.

This work week has steadily declined into a whirling abyss of insanity and dumbness.

"The Recognitions" is kicking my ass. I read really quickly, but not with this one; the language is so dense and beautiful that I can't help but re-read each line. And it's a loooooooong book. I like long books that take a long time to read. I guess I'll be gearing up for another go at "Infinite Jest" after this, and I'll be fully prepared this time, with notes and highlighters and everything.
