the morning after


the gig itself was ok, in a sloppy but good-spirited sort of way. halfway through the second set the alcohol really kicked in and we started flubbing changes pretty consistently, although it hardly mattered. i could barely hear my keyboard anyway. the woman came for the second set, which was really great; i've missed her this week. we both said how it feels like we're suddenly in a long-distance relationship (because we're both really busy and almost never have the same time off). hopefully that'll change soon...

i lost my black notebook at the gig, though, and that sucks. it had tons of lyric sketches, song lists, plus photos that i like to keep around with me... as well as some personal writings that really should remain private. i'm trying to keep somewhat zen about it, though... i mean, i'll either get it back, or i won't. as far as the quality of the writing inside, i'm not terribly heartbroken about it's loss - it's not like there was a huge amount of top-notch, Pulitzer-winning stuff in there. it's just... you know, it's my notebook, i have it with me wherever i go...

i also woke up at 3:30 in the morning with a newer, more annoying toothache, and never managed to fall back asleep. you can imagine how happy and cheerful i am right now... to get coffee and advil...
