1. As hard as it is for me to believe, I actually made a dentist's appointment. And it's only because I'm pretty sure that my lower left jaw is on fire. Unfortunately, the earliest appointment I could get is for next Thursday, but, I mean, I've gone nearly 8 years with incessant tooth pain, I'm sure I can last for another 10 days.

2. There was both good and bad for the T-day weekend; the bad was simply that Kath wasn't with me. The good was that I got extended time with both nephews AND my new step-brother; also, I got extended time with my Xbox on my stepfather's kick-ass TV. My brother and I spent many a late hour golfing, playing tennis and blowing up innocent people (on Links 2004, Top Spin and GTA:DP, respectively).

3. I also elected to NOT attend my 10-year reunion, which I have mostly OK feelings about. I had been excited up until they said that it would be $75, plus cash bar, all at a place nowhere near my house. Then I was still sorta iffy until I learned that a lot of my high school friends that I'm still in touch with weren't going to attend at all, which pretty much sealed the deal. One friend of mine that DID go said that she basically got pretty drunk.

4. It is freezing in my office; it's even colder than my apartment.

5. My birthday is on Monday and I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to do.

Finally, Kath's theater group, Six Characters, will be holding a benefit screening party for their new pilot, "Too Cancelled for TV". If you're interested, it's TONIGHT at the Remote Lounge (327 Bowery, above 2nd Street - most likely along Joey Ramone Place) at 7:00pm. Admission is free. I'll be the guy clutching his jaw.

So I guess I'm retiring this blog. Part of me feels like I need to make some sort of eulogy or something; part of me just wants to move on already.…

  • (no subject)

Kinda hard to imagine Thomas Pynchon (and not, say, Tom Robbins) writing this paragraph, but there it is on p. 99 of "Inherent Vice":…
