U2 is a very, very important band for me. It was because of "The Unforgettable Fire" - specifically "Bad" - that made me want to play guitar. The Edge has been more influential on my style of playing than anybody - even Trey, if that's possible. (I get into some good-natured arguments with Mike (Good Evening bassist) about how Adam Clayton is the luckiest man in the entire world, even luckier than Ringo, and I use the bassline in "With or Without You" as Exhibit A.) "Achtung Baby" blew my mind for about 2 years, and then, after I started smoking pot, kept it up for another 3 or 4. Bono's been perpetually annoying since "Zooropa", and "Pop" was pretty depressing. I never bought "All That You Can't Leave Behind", because I'd heard most of it and kept confusing it with Coldplay.
I gotta say, though, that the new album is pretty fucking good. They haven't played with this much raw energy and power in years. It's nice to see that they've gotten their balls back.
