1. Today I'm sitting at someone else's desk again, dammit, and I'm getting really sick of it. I nearly exploded yesterday, when I was informed of the news. I'm reaching maximum levels of frustration, and I'm not sure what I can do about it.

2. Kath and I have pretty much given up on buying an apartment; this 20% down payment thing is just absurd, and we're not getting anywhere with it. We still need to move, though, so it looks like we're gonna be renting. 2BR in Woodside in our price range isn't totally undoable, so, that's nice. Kath told me about, where you can find out details about the building you live in; turns out our building was built in 1920. No wonder it's falling apart.

3. Even though the Yankees took 2 out of 3 from Boston, I can't help feeling like Boston came out ahead. Mariano blowing 2 saves in a row is soul-crushingly depressing (even though A-Rod's error had as much to do with yesterday's loss as anything). Oh well. There's still the rest of the American League to destroy.

4. I beat the newest Splinter Cell on Monday, and my copy of Doom 3 arrived on Tuesday. The Xbox version is pretty fantastic, I gotta say - even if the gameplay isn't terribly deep, the graphics are astounding and the atmosphere is palpable. I wrote a whole thing about it elsewhere.

5. Tomorrow is my brother's 23rd birthday; we're all having dinner and then seeing SPAMALOT, which should be awesome. I'm deliberately avoiding all things Python - I've already seen the movies 1000 times each, anyway, so it's not like they're getting out of my bloodstream any time soon.

  • Catching up

The first sentence of this post was "Finally, some breathing room," and then as I was in the middle of the second sentence I got handed…

  • (no subject)

Kinda hard to imagine Thomas Pynchon (and not, say, Tom Robbins) writing this paragraph, but there it is on p. 99 of "Inherent Vice":…
