iPod War #4: the gathering

Sorry for not doing this earlier; I've been listening to "Takk.." all day. Great googly moogly, is all I can really say. Watch the video for "Glosoli" here and try not to burst into tears.

The rules: turn on your iPod or mp3 player of choice (maybe one of these days we'll do a pandora war), set it to shuffle, and write down the first 10 songs that pop up. Submit them here before 5:00pm, EST, at which time I'll put up a poll and voting will commence until Monday morning. Please spread the word and get your friends and friendsfriends involved. Why? Why not, I say. Comments will be screened, just for the sake of screening them.

P.S.: You are allowed to skip IF and ONLY IF you get the same band more than once.
P.S.S: Holy shit, my shuffle kicks ASS.
See, I don't think anything is ever going to beat the first time that I heard Sigur Ros, and that first proper song on Agaetis Bryjun. I really like the new album, don't get me wrong, but right now I can't see it surpassing that one for personal favorite.

I did see them last night (at the Boston Opera House...perfect venue), and it was a great show. I don't know if you've ever seen them live before, but the first two times I saw them they almost exclusively played material from ( ), even though the first time I saw them that album was still a year+ away from coming out.
My relationship to Sigur Ros is wierd; I bought Agaetis Bryjun within minutes of its original Pitchfork review but for whatever reason couldn't get into it. I didn't really spend any time with it at all until almost a year later, during an incredibly messy breakup; I listened to that first proper song about 1000 times that week, and once I started feeling better I purposely avoided playing it. Now, of course, I've grown to like it, and I'm probably going to download () when I get home.
It is, isn't it? Goddamn, I thought the song was heartbreaking; then I watched the video and just fell apart.
