2. I need a book. After "Fortress of Solitude" I tried reading and then abruptly gave up on "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close", and now a few weeks have gone by. I'm contemplating my 6th re-read of "Infinite Jest", as it's been almost 3 years, but I'd prefer to read something new.
3. Today's song of the day is American Analog Set's "Fool Around".
4. The American League playoff races remain as totally insane as they ever have. The AL MVP race appears to be equally as contentious, with people split between Arod and Big Papi. I will acknowledge that Ortiz has been absolutely monstrous of late, and I do not understand why opposing teams still pitch to him, especially in close and late situations. However, I must also acknowledge that Arod has played a pretty sparkling 3rd base and has equally good numbers (including a higher batting average by about 20 points). The AL Cy Young is kinda wierd... I can't really think of anybody who's having a truly remarkable year, except for Mariano Rivera, who's having arguably his greatest season ever. The season's not over yet, but I'm ready to make my first stab at a World Series prediction, which has St. Louis over Cleveland. I have to be realistic about the Yankees chances; they're not even technically in the playoffs if they started today, and even if they somehow made it, I don't think their pitching can hold up - especially if Mariano keeps having to come into games when the Yankees score more than 10 runs.
5. Healthy eating + meditation + medication /= happy stomach, yet, but I'm getting there.
