1. This is insane: Not only was yesterday's playoff game between the Astros and Braves the longest postseason game in baseball history, but Berkman's 8th inning grand slam AND Burke's game winning home run in the 18th inning were both caught by the same fan.

2. Last night's Yankees/Angels game was ridonkulously stressful/exciting. Bartolo Colon may be the AL Cy Young frontrunner, but the Yankees have beaten him all season, and as recently as Game 1. I wish I had more faith in Moose; I also hope Mariano doesn't have to go more than 2. I'm also a little annoyed that MLB won't flip the NLCS and ALCS start days, because regardless of who wins tonight Chicago has a HUGE advantage, and it's all because of the weather.

3. From a musical standpoint, 2005 might just be one of the best years in recent memory. Bloc Party... Stars... Sigur Ros... Wolf Parade (which I finally downloaded on Friday and which is awesome)... the Iron & Wine / Calexico EP... Decemberists... Sleater-Kinney... Paul McCartney... Sufjan Stevens... Death Cab... Broken Social Scene... The Frames... The Doves... Clap Your Hands Say Yeah (which, I must admit, has grown on me a bit)... even Beck's "Guero" has grown on me over the last few months. Not to mention the Good Evening EP, which is available on iTunes and insound.com now. All things considered, then, as of right now I've gotta give my early Album of the Year props to The New Pornographers, whose "Twin Cities" has been making sweet love to my brain pretty much nonstop.
