No hot dogs in October

1. Now that baseball season is effectively over, I can move on with the rest of my life. Congralations are in order to Joe West - oops, I mean the Angels - and I look forward to not being able to watch Arrested Development for the next couple weeks. Also, I'm just kidding about blaming the Yankees' loss entirely on the shoulders of umpire Joe West's bizarre vendetta against Robinson Cano; ARod stunk up the joint, as did Matsui, as did every Yankee pitcher besides Chacon and Mariano, and the overall level of play was incredibly subpar. I anticipate this offseason being incredibly dark and depressing; GM Brian Cashman will no doubt leave the nanosecond his contract expires, and I wouldn't be surprised if the entire Yankee coaching staff (sans Donnie Baseball) got axed, to be replaced by Lou Pinella and Billy Connors. The free agent market is pretty weak, too, but since George refuses to allow the farm system to contribute, I'm sure we'll end up overpaying a lot of shitty pitchers. Damn. This is not how I wanted to start today's entry.

2. I'd almost forgotten what it feels like to be completely underwater with work; now I remember! Also, I'd forgotten what the sound of domestic squabbling sounds like, especially over the phone, during work hours, when it's none of my business.

3. Kath and I finally watched Sin City over the weekend; Kath was a little turned off by the graphic violence, but I absolutely adored it (the movie, not the violence). Which is odd, since it's not the sort of movie one could - or should - "adore". I will be picking it up on DVD shortly, alongside...

4. Arrested Development Season 2, which comes out today. If you're new to the show, or just curious, or - like me - you are madly in love with it and want to bathe yourself in its greatness, I highly recommend this site. Spend some time reading the top-rated quotes. Fall in love all over again, for the first time.

5. This week's project is to send out the Good Evening CDs to press/blogs. Both of my lawyers are out of the office starting tomorrow, which is when I plan on starting, as they've given me so much work today I'm amazed I've typed this much. Then again, I'm typing at approximately 120 WPM right now, which is why my hands are cramping up.

Ugh. Work has been absolutely brutal today. Just needed to get that out. The Steve Reich obsession continues unabated; my copy of Phases arrived…

    1. Tonight I am determined to make Pro Tools work. At the very least, I am determined to record 30 seconds of guitar and make sure that (a) I can…
