1. Feeling pretty good today; stomach is settled, I finished all my morning projects, head buzzing with song ideas.

2. Last night's songwriting session turned out pretty well; we've got 4 new songs that are more than halfway done, and between those guys and "Tug of War", we'll have lots to choose from for our possible late-December gig at Knitting Factory (on the main stage, no less). There's one song of David's that we'd written an overly-elaborate B section for, and we decided to scrap it completely and start from scratch, and we used his keyboard to write with, which (a) is a big departure from the usual 2-acoustic-guitar setup, (b) opened up a ton of new possibilities, (c) which we then tried to figure out how to translate back into guitar-land, with varying degrees of success. Hey, I'm just excited that I was able to contribute.

3. It should come as no surprise that Kath and I have BOTH been having puppy dreams all week. I need to remind myself that we probably won't find lil' Duncan (and/or Lola) this weekend, and that it's OK if we don't. Remind me of this paragraph next Monday when I'm insanely depressed.

More later.
We want the kinds of puppies that you don't ever find in shelters. Kath reaaaaaaaallllly wants a Yorkie or a Chihuahua; I like Jack Russells and beagles but those guys are too big. We need something small (i.e., 10lbs max).
What about a toy fox terrier? Or a Manchester Terrier? Then there is the Mini Pin.

Personally, I like the Papillion and Phalene, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, the Brussels Griffon, the Affenpinscher, and of course, the Pug.

And yes, please don't forget about rescues! And you'd be surprized at what you find at the pound. We got Pugsley from the pound, so it is possible. You might want to call around and see if they have waiting lists for specific breeds. Not to mention specific breed rescue organizations. You can even find puppies from them.

Check Petinder. I see over 450 Chi's in the NYC area. But, if none of those fit the bill, I see nothing wrong with going to a reputable breeder.
Kath has checked petfinder, bideawee, etc. at least twice a day for the last 5 months, but we weren't really on the market just yet. This particular weekend trip is convenient simply because we'll have access to my mom's car and 3 local animal shelters. We'd prefer using a shelter over a breeder, but I'm sure we'll eventually be poring over every possible option.
Have you considered finding a Chihuahua or Jack Russell rescue society? They have 'em for poodles, so I assume they have 'em for all different kinds of breeds.
Yeah. Believe me, Kath's been all over this stuff. (Not so much with the JRTs, though - she's just not as much of a fan as I am.) She once found this Yorkie-poo site and pretty much collapsed right then and there...
