1. mgrasso has something going on today; am I allowed to link to it in a public entry? Edit: Mikey says it's ok. If you're on his friends list, you can get on his iPod War love train.

2. Went to my CBT last night; the session was moving along, as it does (I'm normally a quiet person and so it surprised the hell out of me when I look up and see that I've been talking almost non-stop for 30 minutes) and we started to talk about my wierd headache that I've been having, and then suddenly BLAMMO - we hit upon a core issue, avoidance. I've got a lot of private rumination to do on that particular topic over the next 2 weeks, which I'm not necessarily going to go into here, but, I mean, holy shit - I've been using avoidance tactics to some extent probably since I was 5 years old. This is potentially a huge development.

3. I turn 30 in exactly one week. 30!!! Jeebus. I'm not really that freaked out about it, actually - partly because I'm one of the last people to turn 30 in my group of friends, but also because I never really set up the concept of "30" as being some sort of incredibly important milestone the way I did for 25. When I was in college, I had this whole thing about how if I wasn't fully supporting myself through music when I was 25, I would quit entirely and go back to school (to study... something). Now, however... I'm married to my best friend and soulmate, I'm in a band I really like, my job isn't totally sucking the life out of me, I'm living in a great apartment and I've got the 2 cutest puppies in the entire world... I don't necessarily have any gigantic long-term goals at the moment, besides getting healthy.

4. I guess it's a good thing that there are no Xbox360s to be found in the New York metropolitan area until March, because I went to the eye doctor yesterday; between the eye exam and the 2 pairs of glasses (including, finally, prescription sunglasses), I spent an obscene amount of money. Lenscrafters has this cool 6-month payoff plan, though, which I signed up for, so at least I won't be starving to death.

Damn, I thought I had enough for 5.

So I guess I'm retiring this blog. Part of me feels like I need to make some sort of eulogy or something; part of me just wants to move on already.…

Kinda hard to imagine Thomas Pynchon (and not, say, Tom Robbins) writing this paragraph, but there it is on p. 99 of "Inherent Vice":…
