Slow afternoon, I'm browsing Fark... someone does the obligatory "Where were you when John Lennon died" thread, and then a number of other "Tragic Events of December 8" threads pop up.

Now, John Lennon was shot on my 5th birthday; I'm not totally sure I have any real memories about it. I didn't actually get into the beatles until I was 9 or 10, when my mom got me a cassette of Sgt Pepper and I realized that even though I'd never heard the album before I knew the words to every single song.

But that's not what caught my attention. A lot of famous people were also born on December 8; Eli Whitney (inventor of the cotton gin), Phil Collen (from Def Leppard)... and, apparently, ANN COULTER.

I will now proceed to rip off my skin.
