Miles Davis - The Cellar Door Sessions 1970

I had been thinking about it and thinking about it and finally I said fuck it, I'm buying it. As much as I wanted to own the actual CDs so that I could read the liner notes, it was on iTunes for about $30 less, and that was easier, so.... Money aside, this set is absolutely phenomenal. I listened to the first 2 hours on Saturday night over headphones and couldn't believe what I was hearing, over and over and over again. It's kinda funny, actually - the music is so funky and groovy and yet totally in outer space - there were parts that reminded me of Tortoise, and then parts that reminded me of Phish, and then there were parts that I'd just never heard anything like. I cannot recommend this set enough - it's astounding.
