the girls

(no subject)

1. I got up to pee at around 4:30 this morning; Lily took that to mean that it was time to wake up and play and most especially be in the bedroom. So when I closed the door and she was still outside, she wasn't very happy and started to whine and cry. We've read countless times that you can't give in to the dog when they're whining, because it reinforces that whining can get them whatever they want. We laid in bed while she scratched at the door and whined and cried and assumed that she would give up after a while. She did not. She did not stop until our alarm clocks went off, at which point she went to sleep. I am very tired and cranky now, as a result.

2. Why didn't anybody tell me that the new Belle & Sebastian kicks ass? Oh, wait, a bunch of you actually did. OK, then, why didn't I listen? I used to love them but I kinda hated the album directly following "...Arab Strap", so I haven't been following them for a few years. And another thing - since when did B&S grow some balls? "Sukie in the Graveyard" has a fucking swagger that I had no idea they possessed. Word on the street is that B&S is touring with New Pornographers and that constitutes a must-see, no questions asked.

More later, if my brain can handle it.

it does kick ass! i stopped listening after "fold your hands.." but this new one is a work of art. but! you just missed them in NYC, i think they played two dates at the nokia theater at the beginning of march. we're seeing them tonight, though! if you can hop on a plane this afternoon, you'll be here just in time.
Shit, I think you're right about the Nokia date. Damn! (I don't actually know where/what the Nokia theater is, though, so I guess that might've explained why I wasn't paying attention.) Well, hopefully they'll come around again, together, because I need to see the New Pornos as well.
anyone else think they sounded, um... not so hot... playing that DC show? though a friend who saw them live in brooklyn last year assures me they sounded great, so...

in any case, jervo, if that tour hits NYC i would most definitely like to check it out.
