I was all set to do it - I was all set to buy an HDTV today. But I can't pull the trigger. Goddamnit.
I'm 95% sure I know which TV I want - and yeah, it's just slightly different than the one I posted yesterday - and because of that 5% uncertainty, I can't do it.
And yeah, the money is sort of an issue; Kath and I did take out a loan to pay off our old credit card debt, and I've already managed to rack up a not-insignificant sum already, so adding this to that would just make it worse. But that hasn't stopped me before; I've always been more than willing to spend money I don't have on stuff I don't need.
Am I actually becoming fiscally responsible?
Or am I just a pussy?
2. We saw Pan's Labyrinth last night; it was very good. It wasn't the mind-blowing experience I was expecting it to be, but that may be because my expectations were unrealistically high. Still, it was a pretty intense experience, and it did get me out of the house.
3. State of the Union address tonight, and again I don't think I'll watch it, mostly because - and this is absolutely true - I get nauseous whenever Bush is on TV. I am somewhat curious to see how his speech will be received - I can't imagine that he'll get all the standing ovations and applause breaks that are built in to his speech. Of course, the Bush administration (and the media that covers it) has proven time and time again that it refuses to acknowledge any criticism, so it wouldn't surprise me if there was canned applause fed in over the TV feeds. Still, though, I'm staying away.
