Not much to post about. However, Fark had an interesting link - today, August 17th, is the 25th anniversary of the CD. So, then, what was the first CD you ever bought? As I recall, the first 3 CDs I owned were actually gifts - Yes "Fragile", Genesis "Selling England By the Pound", and Simon & Garfunkel's "Bookends", and I think the first CD I actually bought with my own money was Midnight Oil's "10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1".

An interesting anniversary as Jono, is 25 as well. I remember hearing about the 'new' technology that would revolutionize recorded music for several years and I just couldn't wait. LPs were forever grungy and filled with clicks and pops and skips even when you handled them like newborn babies. And, although pre-recorded tapes were a huge improvement (once Dolby got into the picture...no more tape hiss), you had to navigate around them with a numerical counter that was about as accurate as a blind man with a BB gun. Then began the enormous surge in improving the CD's sound which was brittle and shrill at first (not the CDs), but the players....until....until.....MP3s....lossy and lousy. Back down the slope. Sigh!

heh - i will answer this question because the juxtaposition of my youthful tastes always amuses me. the first two cds i ever bought (at the same time - they were on sale at target, i knew i was getting a cd player for christmas and wanted to have something to play): new edition's greatest hits and nevermind.
pearl jam's VS was one of the first few--strange how that makes me feel young rather than old...
