My two busiest bosses are out of the office today, and yet I've been as busy as I've been in weeks.

1. Still feeling good about last night's recordings; I'm definitely starting to feel like I can actually make something sound pretty good. I'm not necessarily crazy about "To Retreat" as a song anymore, I am happy with the other one, "You Were a Ghost" - it's a much-needed change for me, instead of all the faux-folky crap I've been doing.

2. As a result of all the recording last night, though, I completely and totally missed the eclipse. Didn't even know it was happening until Kath called me up as she was on her way home.

3. Tonight: Lost. Let me just say - I'm back into this show now. Maybe it's just because I'm giving it a second chance because it looks really good in HD, but this season looks to me like the show has regained its sense of purpose and direction. Plus, I get to ask Kath all sorts of questions, which I know she enjoys.

That's it and that's all.

EDIT: No, it's not. This week is the Game Developer Conference, and I just saw video for this new puzzle-y game which is blowing my freakin' mind. It may not look like much at first, but things start to get craaaaaazy at around 0:50.

Kinda hard to imagine Thomas Pynchon (and not, say, Tom Robbins) writing this paragraph, but there it is on p. 99 of "Inherent Vice":…
