full life

(no subject)

I've been trying very hard to curb my spending habits this year, as Priority #1 is to get rid of my credit card debt.  Currently I'm a little over $3K, which is as low as it's been in years, but obviously not low enough.  I'm paying $250 every other week, which is just about as aggressive as I can get without starving to death.  More to the point, though, I'm refraining from making impulsive iTunes and Amazon purchases.

However, I did succumb last night and iTune'd Dosh, "The Lost Take".  Thank you, Stereogum, for fucking up my plans.  Check out "Um, Circles and Squares" on this page.  For those of you who don't know, Peter Dosh has been Andrew Bird's main collaborator of late, and Bird appears on "The Lost Take" more than a few times.

It should be noted, however, that I still have not purchased the new Raconteurs or the new Gnarls Barkley.

Kath is out tonight and tomorrow night; not quite sure yet how I'm filling those hours.

This week has been horrendously long and I would be more thrilled about it being Friday if I had any energy at all.

Hey Baird, are you still alive?

Finally, please to enjoy this absolutely fantastic video of a hunter getting his ass thoroughly kicked by a deer he was trying to kill.  Karmic retribution in action.
I was just watching this very scene yesterday at the AV Club. I think I have to Netflix this movie.
Oh man.

Just remember the incidental music. It has probably the worst Carpenter soundtrack of all time. He wrote 30 seconds of music and reused it over and over.
what always cracks me up about seeing just this portion of they live in youtube clips is thinking of all the people watching the clip who've never seen the movie and don't know what the hell's going on. :D
Reasons to just put the glasses on, man!
-Then you'll be deemed clear by the scientologists!
-They'll look totally good on you!

-It's a gay prostitute thing. If you don't know why, you can't afford it.
-Initiation into Jazz Fight Club is not valid without cool shades.
I just found this. I think you might be the only person who will (may...) enjoy this:
Re: Enjoy
I find it difficult to believe that I am the only one who could enjoy the wonder, the majesty, the sheer awesome power of the Mr. T cartoon intro. If so, though... SCORE!
I don't know about your public library, but the one where I live would probably have all that new music (we also have a LOT of DVDs, including new movies and new TV shows out on DVD). Maybe you could order the CDs you want from the library and borrow them so you can at least see if you really like them?
Seconded. NYPL has everything, so if your local branch doesn't have it, it can be ordered in for you. I still borrow CDs and DVDs from my local library, I haven't actually rented a DVD since "Borat" in October. Before that, it must have been about 18 months.
librarian love
it warms my librarian heart to hear people talk fondly about the collection at NYPL. Even though brooklyn is losing funding and i'll probably be unemployed, it's a nice little ray of sunshine in this dreary world.
jer- you should use the library more. it will help with your desire to curb expenses.
