1.   So... new Death Cab?  Anybody?  I got it yesterday morning, but it took a backseat to the new Dosh album (which is quite excellent).  I think I like the new DCfC better than the last album, but that's not saying a hell of a lot.  There are two songs that I think are quite wonderful, though:  "Cath" and "Long Division".  And also maybe "Your New Twin Sized Bed."  I think the problem I have with them these days is that they've moved away from what I found so special about them, namely their guitar arrangements; most of the new songs feature vanilla instrumentation and so the songs aren't nearly as interesting as they could be.  The focus is now squarely on Ben's lyrics and vocals, and though that might be great for teenagers, it's not so good for 32-year-old guitar nerds.

2.  Kath and I have absolutely no self-control when it comes to gift-giving; pretty much every major holiday/anniversary/birthday over the last 8 years has featured at least one gift given way ahead of schedule.  Our 4th wedding anniversary is on the 23rd, but because Kath is unable to leave the house, anything she got for me is something I'd have to get for myself and then bring back home.  So she spilled the beans on what she wanted to get for me, which meant I had to spill the beans on what I wanted to get for her, and blah blah blah.  So I went anniversary shopping for both of us last night, and now today we've got new toys to play with.  I got her an iPod Touch; she got me a PS3.

3.  Finally got a haircut yesterday, which was dumb.  Let me back up.  I've been needing a haircut for at least a month; shit was getting out of control.  Yesterday morning at work was completely insane, and once it cooled down in the afternoon I felt like I was going to explode from all the unreleased tension; I needed to get out of the office and engage in at least some moderate retail therapy.  (I didn't yet realize I was going to go bananas when I got home.. see #2.)  Anyway - the stylist I wanted was out and would have been in today, but I didn't care; I needed to get out of the office, I needed a haircut, whoever they threw at me would get the job done.  Alas.  My haircut experience yesterday was astoundingly quick - if I entered the salon at 3:00pm, I was out the door at 3:15, which is insane.  And it also speaks to the quality of the haircut I was given, which does look very much like a 15-minute haircut.  (Actually, 10 minutes, since 5 was spent waiting/getting shampooed).  Ugh.
Actually, I'd have to say I think the opposite about the new Death Cab -- I think there's more of a focus on guitars and on musical texture than on Plans. On first listen, I have to say I think it's pretty great.
I love the new Death Cab. Have you ever heard Jim Noir?
He only has two but I really dig him and the fact he does it all himself I think would appeal to you. "Tower of Love" is a great place.
