Because, why not.  Vianounsandverbs.

Who was your FIRST prom date?
If I remember correctly, it was my junior prom, way back in 1992, and it was with Jen Gilbert, who I'd been friends with through the drama club - specifically, in my high school debut back in freshman year, where she played my wife, and I had to kiss her on stage, which was one of the more frightening moments of my life up to that point.

Do you still talk to your FIRST love?
Isn't that why they invented Facebook?  We don't necessarily talk, but we e-mail occasionally.

What was your 1st alcoholic drink?
As long as we're excluding sips I might have had from my dad, I'm almost certain that my first drink - and, indeed, my drink of choice for a while - was an amaretto sour. This was entirely my cousin Ben's fault.

What was your FIRST job?
My first job out of college was as the receptionist of iVillage, back in those heady days before the dotcom industry imploded.

What was your FIRST car?

I've never actually owned a car, but the car I drove at the end of high school and which was for all intents and purposes "mine" was my stepfather's old Nissan Sentra, which was infamous in my neighborhood because of the license plate.  My stepfather tried to quote Hamlet, but came up with "2BERNT2B", so my car became known as the Burnt-mobile, which was, um, apropos.

Who was the FIRST person to text you today?
I haven't gotten any texts yet.

Who is the FIRST person you thought of this morning?
Kath, as always.

Who was your FIRST grade teacher?
Mrs. Denniston, and she ruled.

Where did you go on your FIRST ride on an airplane?
Orlando, Florida.  It wouldn't surprise me if that was most people's first plane ride.

Who was your FIRST best friend & do you still talk?
Probably Mike Giannetino, who lived across the street.  He found me on Myspace a year or so ago; we haven't quite reconnected, but it's good to know he's still out there and remembered me.

Where was your FIRST sleep over?

Wow, I have absolutely no idea.  There were so many!  It was either at my friend Ian's house, or maybe even the Feldmans, who lived next door.

Who was the FIRST person you talked to today?
Kath, as always.

Whose wedding were you in the FIRST time?
My stepsister Randy.

What was the FIRST thing you thought this morning?
I don't want to get up yet, I don't want to get up yet, I don't want to get up yet.

What was the FIRST concert you ever went to?
U2 at Giants Stadium, on the Achtung Baby tour.  That set the bar pretty goddamned high.

FIRST tattoo or piercings?

I got my left ear pierced in college, probably sophomore year.

FIRST foreign country you went to?
Cancun, Mexico, on my honeymoon.

FIRST movie you remember seeing in the theaters?
I have a very faint but distinct memory of seeing Cinderella at a drive-in movie theater, and I was probably 3 or 4 years old.

When was your FIRST detention?

It was in 7th or 8th grade, and I was horsing around with some friends during some sort of shop-related class.

First state you lived in?
It's only ever been New York.

Who was your FIRST roommate?
I had 2 roommates during my freshman year; one was Jermaine, a junior, and also a film major, and... shit, I can't remember the other guy's name.  He was a born-again Korean, and we got into a bit of an argument because I had told him I was trying to quit smoking, and he said something like "I didn't know Jews smoked."  You can imagine how that went.

Raina.  She was my first... nearly everything, actually.

  • Farewell, LJ

So I guess I'm retiring this blog. Part of me feels like I need to make some sort of eulogy or something; part of me just wants to move on already.…

  • Catching up

The first sentence of this post was "Finally, some breathing room," and then as I was in the middle of the second sentence I got handed…

  • (no subject)

Kinda hard to imagine Thomas Pynchon (and not, say, Tom Robbins) writing this paragraph, but there it is on p. 99 of "Inherent Vice":…
