Man, I really needed the Yankees to win last night; not just because it would've kept them in the series, but because I really needed a lift, because...
Last night's "rehearsal" was incredibly frustrating; I had absolutely no concentration and everything I played sounded like ass. I wanted to drop-kick my drum machine; my sampler started making little farty noises; my guitar felt wierd in my hands.
I don't know what you guys thought, but I sorta liked W's speech last night. He spoke very confidently, and while I wasn't necessarily thrilled with his stance on the Anti-Ballistic Missle treaty with Russia, or with his repeating of the phrase "brought to justice" so many times that it started to lose its meaning, I did feel some comfort in his words.
Look, at this point, with the state of the world being as crazy and tumultuous as it currently is, we need to find comfort when we can. If it's not Paul O'Niell hitting a run-scoring double that gives the Yankees the lead, then it's knowing that having a cowboy as a President isn't necessarily a bad thing - he is determined to keep us as safe as is humanly possible.
And I ended up writing a new song very late last night, after a long conversation with the woman; a strange sort of anthem. It was much easier to sleep after that.
